Perpignan 3D: A Virtual Tour of the Gothic Past
Perpignan 3D is a free Android application developed by Mairie de PERPIGNAN that offers a virtual tour of the city's gothic past through 360° augmented reality, multimedia content and games. With the availability of four languages - French, Catalan, Spanish, and English - the app offers three gothic itineraries to explore the historic heart of Perpignan and its landmarks. The virtual tour includes the Castillet, an imposing vestige of the disappeared fortifications, a remarkable cathedral complex, the Place de la Loge that brings together the main buildings of medieval civil power, and other hidden beauties.
The app provides a didactic and recreational experience for all, with audio commentary for adults and children, documented supplements for the curious, eloquent slideshows, panoramic views for an immersive experience, 3D reconstructions of certain buildings as they were in the Middle Ages, observation games, a city map, GPS guidance, and social media sharing. However, it is important to note that continuous use of GPS in the background can significantly reduce battery life. Perpignan 3D automatically closes if it is in the background and is not opened for a certain period of time.
